Bec Gathmann-Landini, owner and collective guide of Luna and Soul Yoga, believes that the ancient practice transforms people on a physical, emotional and spiritual level. The Baldwin resident opened her new studio on Hilton Avenue last September, and has generated a wide range of diverse clients.

“We have a pretty diverse audience here, ranging from people of all ages, from fifteen to seventy-five years old,” said Gathmann-Landini. “When I reopened last year under the Luna & Soul brand name, my goal was to be more than just a yoga teacher. I wanted to provide a community service and outreach and foster a warm and welcoming place for my clients.”

Gathmann-Landini said she has been practicing the art of yoga for the past ten years and was a former teacher at the Yoga Nanda studio, which was housed at the same location.

“I was teaching at Yoga Nanda for the past five years before deciding to buy the business in November of 2019. A few months later the pandemic hit and we had to close up shop in March 2020. During that time I wanted a fresh start, so I rebranded with the Luna & Soul Yoga name.”

The business reopened last September and has fo garnered a positive reception in the community.

“I think with the ongoing pandemic and all of the stress it has brought to so many people, people are looking for a release of their anxiety and something to build up their resiliency,” said Gathmann-Landini. “I think that there are a lot of people who may not be comfortable with the idea of the traditional yoga studio, but here it’s more than just finding peace on a yoga mat. It’s about finding that release from stresses at their jobs, home-life or when they’re stuck in traffic.”

Luna & Soul Yoga offers a wide range of classes, workshops and training regimens.

“We have classes for all levels from novices to experienced yoga practitioners. We offer classes and workshops for healing and restorative purposes, calming techniques and we offer kids classes too.”

She said that her studio is the only in Nassau County to offer a sliding scale membership to clients.

Gathmann-Landini said that after graduating from Hampshire College in Massachusetts and obtaining her yoga certification, she knew she wanted to practice the ancient art for the rest of her life.

“I knew my job in this world was to pass on this beneficial and restorative practice to other people. Over the years I’ve taught people from all walks of life, and have helped them overcome depression, addiction issues and coping with loss of a loved one.”

Luna & Soul Yoga is located at 55 Hilton Avenue across from the Garden City railroad station.
