WPOA To Discuss St. Paul’s

The next general meeting of the Western Property Owners Association (WPOA) will be held on Wednesday, September 15, at 7:30 p.m. at Homestead School. While the fate of St. Paul’s School has remained unresolved for too many years, it is once again a “hot topic” on the Village agenda. In response to the presentation of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for demolition of St. Paul’s, the WPOA has invited representatives of the Committee to Save St. Paul’s and The Garden City Historical Society to be our September guest speakers and discuss the alternative proposal they have offered to the Village Board of Trustees.

This is an opportunity for residents of the West to ask questions and express their concerns whether for or against alternative use of the building. We request attendees in favor of demolition or in favor of preservation and reuse to please voice their thoughts, comments and opinions. It is important for the WPOA Board and our Trustees from the “West” to understand our residents’ views and preferences. All residents of the Western Section are welcome to attend.

The Western Section of Garden City is bordered on the north by the main line of the LIRR, on the east by the west side of Tanners Pond and Edgemere Roads, on the south by Cambridge Avenue and on the west by Jefferson Street. Residents in this area may join the WPOA at the meeting or by visiting the “Contacts” page on the WPOA web site, www.gcwpoa.com, to download a membership form. The form and membership dues can be mailed to the WPOA Post Office box.
