New Hyde Park snapped the Trojans 12 game winning streak by holding on for a 4-3 win. However, in the next two games GC rebounded with convincing wins of 11-2 and 6-1.

In the first inning of the first game GC scored when P.J. Volz doubled in Andrew Lobasso who had singled. New Hyde Park then scored two runs in their first inning. In the top of the third P.J. Volz came through again with his second double which scored John Cauchi who had walked.

New Hyde Park tallied twice in the fourth inning to take a 4-2 lead. It would have been more except for a brilliant throw by Andrew Lobasso from center field to nail the New Hyde Park runner at the plate.

The score remained the same with the Trojans down to their last out with no one on base. Here is where GC showed they would not go down without a fight. Tom Zwicke beat out a hit to deep short. Matteo Lattanzio followed with a solid single to center. Andrew Lobasso worked out a walk which loaded the bases. John Cauchi was hit by a pitch scoring Zwicke and left the bases loaded, with New Hyde Park still ahead 4-3. P.J. Volz, who had both of Garden City’s RBI’s, came to the plate. With two strikes on him Volz made solid contact and hit a line drive right at the New Hyde Park second baseman for the final out.
