Thursday Night Movie Series




Crossroads Farm at Grossmann’s and the Ethical Humanist Society of Long Island are co-hosting a Thursday night movie series on Food Sustainability and Challenges for a Hungry Planet at the Ethical Society, 38 Old Country Road in Garden City. On September 13, the film will be “Queen of the Sun,” an awardwinning documentary about the importance of the lowly honeybee, and how colony collapses can interrupt global food production. September 20’s film is “Dive!” about the amount of edible, good food that is thrown away- wastedevery day, in a nation where millions still go hungry. September 27’s movie is “Forks Over Knives,” in which medical research demonstrates that processed food is leading to epidemics of obesity and diabetes. Each movie starts at 7 pm and will be followed by a discussion with an expert in the organic food movement.

Crossroads Farm at Grossmann’s, a project of the nonprofit Nassau Land Trust, is the last remaining farm in southwest Nassau County, located in Malverne. The Ethical Humanist Society of Long Island has long been concerned with challenges of both environmental destruction and the needs of the poor

Tickets are $10 per movie or $25 for all three, and are available in person at Crossroads Farm (480 Hempstead Avenue, Malverne) or in person or by mail at the Ethical Humanist Society (phone 516-741-7304), or at the door.
