Rotary Inducts Newest Member
Well launched into the new year, and on the brink of spring 2022, the Mineola-Garden City Rotary Club looks ahead to myriad projects currently in stages of planning.
It is also the time of year when we remind the “world at large” – that is, individual businesses, corporations, schools, houses of worship, along with Garden City residents, that Rotary welcomes new membership.
Joanne Campbell Schiefer, a Financial Advisor at Wells Fargo Advisors here in Garden City, is the newest inductee member of The Mineola-Garden City Rotary Club.
At its February 22 lunch meeting last Tuesday, at Calogero’s Restaurant in Garden City, Rotary was pleased to welcome Rotary’s Assistant District Governor-Elect Nominee Beverly James to induct Joanne Schiefer on behalf of our Club.
In her welcoming remarks, Joanne said she has a deep commitment to our Long Island community, and is dedicated to empowering the next generation of young people.
Joanne’s leadership is far-reaching. She reported that she has held leadership positions in the Estate Planning Council of Suffolk County; CAPS (Child Abuse Prevention Center); Stony Brook University Alumni Association; Northwell Estate Planning Committee; and the LICF advisory committee.
“I am eager to help Rotary advance its mission in the local community as well as its mission around the world,” Joanne said. “The Rotary supports humanitarian service and encourages the highest ethical standards in all vocations. I am honored to join this organization and to continue giving back to others.”
In welcoming other potential new members, the Mineola-Garden City Rotary Club reveals that Rotary is the world’s largest service organization in the world. Incorporated in 1925, our Club welcomes community members and leaders, well beyond businesses, to join us.
Featuring noteworthy speakers at our lunch meetings, our Club has met for many years at the Garden City Hotel on 2nd and 4th Tuesdays throughout the year, at 12:15-1:30. However, until such time as the Hotel resumes lunch service, cancelled throughout the Covid pandemic, we continue to meet at Calogero’s Restaurant in Garden City. With the Rotary motto, “Service Above Self,’’ all Rotary clubs focus on various services which impact their respective communities and beyond.
If you, your firm, corporation or organization would like to attend a complimentary lunch meeting to learn more about Rotary; or to join our Club, please contact Club President Diane Marmann at 516-742-8340; or Diane.marmann@gmail.com. Our next meeting, at which we will induct other newest members, will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 12:15, at Calorgero’s Restaurant.
