On August 31st a medical office reported that someone created a forged medical report using their letterhead and company name.

Altered checks

On August 31st a company reported checks picked up by the Postal Service were stolen, altered and cashed by an unknown person. 

Stolen packages

Packages were reported stolen from a FedEx drop-off box on Old Country Road on August 31st.

Hit and run

A motorist on 11th Street stated that on August 31st another vehicle fled the scene after striking his vehicle causing him to suffer back pain. 

Mirror damaged

The mirror to a vehicle parked on the Adelphi University campus was found damaged by unknown means on August 31st. 

Suspended license

On September 1st the Garden City Police and Nassau County Probation Departments conducted a joint investigation on County Seat Drive resulting in the arrest of a 23-year-old man for allegedly driving with a license suspended for DWI offenses. 

Vehicle entered

Multiple items were reported stolen from a vehicle parked on Pell Terrace on September 1st.

Excessive speed

A motorist on Clinton Road was charged with driving with a suspended registration, passing a red traffic light, and excessive speed on September 1st. On the same day, a  motorist on Franklin Avenue was charged with driving with a suspended license and excessive speed in a school zone. A third motorist,  on Clinton Road, was charged with driving with a suspended license and excessive speed.

Malfunctioning gates

Officers responded to New Hyde Park Road on September 2nd for malfunctioning railroad gates due to a service disruption in Queens.

Failure to yield

A motorist on Stewart Avenue was charged with driving with a suspended registration and failure to yield right of way on September 2nd.

Vehicle entered

A vehicle parked on Damson Street was rummaged through and the carpet and glove box were damaged on September 2nd.

Ice cream thief

On September 2nd Officers investigated a report of a male subject stealing ice cream containers at a store.

False claims

On September 2nd a resident reported that their identity was used to file false unemployment claims.

Identity theft

A person’s identity was reportedly used to open unauthorized bank and debit card accounts.

Motorcycle blues

On September 2nd a 46-year-old motorcyclist was arrested on Poplar Street for possession of stolen property, driving with a suspended/revoked license, and unregistered vehicle.

Landscaping tickets

A landscaping company was issued a ticket for operating gas leaf blowers. Another company was charged with landscaping without a permit on September 2nd. 

Company scammed

Garden City Police are investigating a scam in which a store employee received a phone call from someone she thought was a contractor who did previous work for her employer and per the caller’s directions, transferred money from the employer’s bank account to an unknown bank account.

DWI arrest

On September 3rd a 54-year-old female was arrested on South Avenue for alleged DWI, passing a Stop sign, and unsafe lane usage.

Suspended license

A motorist on Hilton Avenue was charged with driving with a suspended license and excessive speed on September 3rd.

Harassment charge

Officers arrested a 35-year-old male for harassing and stalking an 18-year-old victim on St. James Street South as she was attempting to walk home from the Country Life Press Railroad station on September 4th. 

11 suspensions

Garden City Police arrested a motorist on Meadow Street on September 4th for aggravated unlicensed operation 2nd degree (11 license suspensions) and passing a red traffic light.

Theft arrest

On September 4th Garden City Police arrested a 34-year-old male for the alleged theft of multiple items from a store. He was charged with petit larceny.

Harassment arrest

Upon investigation of an August 30th incident on 7th Street, Garden City detectives arrested a 58-year-old male for allegedly harassing another person by pushing him, spitting on him, and pouring coffee on him.

Vehicle damaged

A vehicle parked in a Garden City Plaza parking lot on September 4th was reportedly damaged by unknown means.

Smoke, no fire

Garden City Police and Firefighters responded to a residence for an oven fire on September 4th. Firefighters determined the issue was excess steam emanating from the oven while it was in self-cleaning mode.

Items stolen

Items were reported stolen from a handbag which was stored inside a 7th Street restaurant employee area on September 4th.

Bike stolen

A bicycle was reported stolen from a Cathedral Avenue yard on September 5th.

Arrest for forgery

On September 5th Garden City Detectives arrested a 27-year-old male for grand larceny and possession of a forged instrument. The man allegedly deposited forged checks into his bank account followed by subsequent withdrawals for a loss of $37,300. 

Computer fraud

On September 5th Garden City Detectives arrested a 21-year-old male for grand larceny and computer trespass. The subject allegedly hacked into a victim’s bank app and transferred money from the victim’s account to his bank account for a loss of $19,000. 

Identity theft

On September 5th an unauthorized online account was reported to have been opened using a victim’s identity and then used to make fraudulent purchases. 

Bumper damaged

The bumper on a vehicle parked on the Adelphi campus was found damaged by unknown means on September 5th. 

Suspended licenses

A motorist on Stewart Avenue was charged with driving with a suspended license and speeding in a school zone on September 5th. On the same day, two motorists on Rockaway Avenue were charged with driving with a suspended license and speeding in a school zone.
