POLICE REPORT: MISCHIEF AND MAYHEM

ON APRIL 6 , a 35-year-old Ridge NY woman allegedly took 2 BCBG dresses valued at $680 at Lord and Taylor… On April 5 , PO Hennessy arrested a 20-year-old Suitland Maryland man for alleged DWI ( 13%), alleged speeding at 60 in a 30, unsafe lane change, and no seatbelt, at Franklin Avenue/Thirteenth Street… On the same day , PO Oswald arrested a 36-year-old Hempstead man for alleged DWI (.12%) and numerous other traffic violations after the motorist did not signal and did not have headlights on at Franklin Avenue… At 4:40 a.m. , on April 4, PO Hennessy arrested a 19-year-old Bronx man as well as an 18-year-old Roosevelt man at Glen Cove Road, after their car was observed traveling at Flower Rd./Clinton Rd. with very dark tinted windows. The car had been stolen from the First Precinct and the two were charged with the criminal possession of stolen property; the Roosevelt man was also charged with unlicensed operation and for the possession of burglar tools… ON APRIL 8, 1:20 p.m., a 21-year-old male tried to cash a Capital Bank check for over $790 at the bank at Franklin Avenue, however, an alert bank teller saw that particular check number was already used and police were called. Police stopped the man as he was exiting the bank, and he was arrested for petit larceny and for the criminal possession of a forged instrument… ON APRIL 3 , a 37-year-old Hempstead man was arrested for DWI refusal, the failure to signal a turn, no license and no insurance, and other traffic violations after he was driving on the wrong side of Main Street at 3:45 a.m… A 43-YEAR-OLD Smithtown woman took 2 identical Free People dress valued at $168 each, and she was arrested after she only paid for one, at Lord and Taylor on April 4, 6 p. m… ON APRIL 2 , police conducted a truck stop at Clinton Road, where 12 trucks were inspected with 77 tickets issued, 6 trucks taken out of service; 4 for overweight… A 50-Year-Old homeless man was arrested at Sears on April 2, after he took Craftsman tool kits valued at $680. He had been observed the day before by security as having stolen 2 small tool kits there- only he had successfully fled from the store… ON APRIL 2 , someone either throwing a rock or using a bb gun shattered a window at a St. Paul’s comfort station, and a window on a 2007 Honda parked at Jefferson Street, as well as a window on a Toyota Sienna also parked on that street… ON MARCH 29 , PO Wehr observed a car traveling along Hilton Avenue at a high rate of speed. The car eventually lost control at Hempstead Turnpike and hit a fence. Police arrested a 17-year-old Freeport female for the grand larceny of a car (from Westbury), reckless endangerment 1st degree, aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd, unlicensed operation, alleged speeding, passing a red light, unlawful fleeing from police, a lane change violation, and burglar tools. A passenger in the car, a 19-year-old Woodhaven female, was charged with grand larceny auto and burglar tools, Another passenger, a 20-year-old Woodhaven male, was charged with burglar tools and grand larceny auto…

Fire Responses:

A TRUCK FIRE occurred on Franklin Avenue on April 2… The source of an odor could not be located at NHP Rd. on April 5… A slight haze occurred in a bakery area at 953 Franklin Avenue on April 5, but that source was not located… A BRUSH FIRE was extinguished prior to FD arrival at Cathedral Avenue on the same day… An art canvas was set on fire but extinguished before the FD arrived at South Avenue on April 6…
