Stratford School third graders participated in a virtual assembly with Garden City-based author and disability educator Amy McCoy on May 5. The inspiring presentation featured Ms. McCoy’s book, “Little Big Sister,” which addresses the topic of autism through the eyes of children and siblings.

Ms. McCoy’s presentation coincided with the culmination of Autism Awareness Month, which was observed in April. She discussed autism as presented through her book, which is based on the experiences of her own two children. She also described the writing process and explained the steps that it involves.

The students enjoyed learning more about Ms. McCoy and “Little Big Sister,” and took the opportunity to ask questions at the end of the presentation.
