Robert Nubar Nouryan passed away peacefully at home on December 30, 2021 after a short battle with cancer.   He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Lola. and his family.  He was a huge fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, and the Opera at Tanglewood or Lincoln Center.  His witty personality, smarts and ability to navigate the world were some of his best qualities.

The son of Helen and Nubar Nouryan, he grew up in Flushing. He later moved to Manhattan and then to Garden City where he raised his family and lived for most of his life. He attended St Paul’s School in Garden City and Flushing High School. He graduated from Bradley University in IL and got his Masters Degree from CCNY. After college, he served in the US Military and was stationed primarily in France. He was a consultant in the hospitality and travel industry, and taught at Nassau Community College.

He met his wife, Lola Derderian, at a social event in June of 1958; they subsequently married that December and remained happily together for 64 years. He is survived by his wife, 3 children, Laura, Christian and Edward (Ted) and 5 grandchildren. He served as president of the Garden City COPA for many years. He will be laid to rest at Calverton Cemetery. No services are scheduled at this time.
