Meetings Scheduled On St. Paul’s; Residents Input Sought

On Wednesday January 15th, and Thursday, January 16th, residents will have several opportunities to offer input on the future plans for the historic building at St. Paul’s.

Representatives of AvalonBay Communities, Inc., which has been conditionally designated by the Village Trustees as the redeveloper of the main building, will be attending three Property Owner’s Association (POA) general membership meetings on the 15th, and will also host a wine and cheese reception on January 16th at the Garden City Hotel for all residents who would like to attend. No reservations are necessary.

The three POA meetings on the 15th are the Eastern (7:30 pm presentation at Stewart School); Estates (8:45 p.m. presentation at Stratford School), and Western (8:30 p.m. presentation at Homestead School). The reception on January 16th will be from 7 – 9:00 pm, with the presentation starting at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Matthew B. Whalen, a Garden City resident who is Vice President of Development for AvalonBay, said that comments received from residents have been extremely helpful to AvalonBay and the Village as they continue to negotiate the final proposed redevelopment plan for the historic structure. “We hope as many residents as possible attend the meetings”, said Whalen. “We’ve heard a great many enlightened comments and ideas during our meetings with various groups and individual residents over the past several weeks, and we want to continue to receive as much input as possible before a specific plan is proposed”.

Whalen will be joined at the meetings by Christopher Capece, Development Director for AvalonBay. A member of the Mayor’s Committee on St. Paul’s will also participate in all of the meetings. Residents are also invited to check out the AvalonBay Communities, Inc. website ( www.avalonbay.com ) and/or to send ideas or questions directly to Mr. Whalen at Matthew_Whalen@avalonbay.com .
