On November 6, 2013, Marilyn Kaufman presented a wonderful program titled “A Funny Thing Happened on The Way to The White House.” Ms. Kaufman, an Historian and public speaker, also spent many years as a Librarian at the Brooklyn Public Library. She amazed everyone with her knowledge of wonderful, and many times amusing stories and little known facts, about our past Presidents. Marilyn started with George Washington, then on to John Adams, Martin Van Buren and even included Millie, President Bush’s dog. Marilyn also filled us with facts and stories about Nixon, Eisenhower and Kennedy. Storytelling is certainly an art and Ms. Kaufman is absolutely wonderful in both her depth of knowledge and her delivery of the stories. The members enjoyed the factual aspects and the lightheartedness of the program. Many compliments were heard following her presentation. We look forward to a return visit from this speaker in the near future.
