Local Artist Displays Work





For $25 a Person “The Long Island Arts Council of Freeport” will admit you to tour Shirley Agnes Jessen’s Art Gallery in Garden City. This will take place in April. Shirley will also pay a Commission, a generous FEE of 25% to the Arts Council for each painting they buy.

Shirley is graciously opening her Studio now to all Garden City lovers of Art and their friends at no charge. Reservations via 741-6332.

Shirley is a well known, accomplished artist having won many Awards, Medals, Citations, Honors, Scholarship etc. She is written up in The World Who’s Who of Women, Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who of Artists in America, Who’s Who in American Art, Artists U.S.A. Channel Thirteen Collection, Long Island Art Experience Show.

She has been on the Board of Directors of United Cerebral Palsy, for 29 years, having been President for two of those years, President of the Nassau County Medical Society Auxiliary, and on the Board of Directors for 35 years, Awarded Lifetime Honorary Membership by the Medical Society Alliance; Honored by the Gavel Club and a member for 30 years. Served on the Board of Directors at Winthrop Hospital, the Red Cross, the Nassau County Performing and Fine Arts, Teaching Art Classes at the Garden City Community Club, including the fun of being a Pilot flying out of Republic Airport where she and her late husband Albert Jessen M.D. The Psychoanalyst shared ownership with three partners, of twelve Airplanes for many years.

Shirley has displayed her Paintings in One Woman and Juried Art Shops all over Manhattan and Long Island as well as Paris and Hawaii.
