John Randall Willets

John Randall Willets passed away at home in Sunset Beach, North Carolina on January 29, 2023 at the age of 81.

John was born in Freeport, New York on September 21, 1941.  He graduated from St. Paul’s School in Garden City, in 1959, going on to graduate from Dartmouth College in 1963, and the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth in 1966.  John was a longtime resident of Garden City,  and Sunset Beach, North Carolina.  John spent his career across several different industries including roles at Phillip Morris & Co., Pricewater House & Co., he ultimately found his niche of writing for a publisher of legal briefs and texts used by compliance officers and broker dealers. 

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Susan Pullman Willets; and their sons, Jason, Adam, and Luke; and John’s younger brothers, Rick Willets of Derry, New Hampshire, and Jared Willets of Pensacola, Florida.  John is also survived by Jason’s wife, Jennifer, their children Trevor and Dearon; Adam’s wife Rita, their children Soraya, Zana, and Alexander; and Luke’s wife Melissa, and their children Dana, Brooke, Madison, Liam, and Aidan.  

He will be remembered for his love of family, spending tie with new and old friends, his dry wit, never ending pursuit of reading classical literature and world history.  He loved tracking down great wins at his local shop, and beyond.  This passion paired well with his love for travel, especially throughout Europe that began during his semesters abroad at Dartmouth College.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 18, 2023 at eleven o’clock in the morning at White Funeral and Cremation Service, 3660 Express Drive, Shallotte, North Carolina.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
