Garden City Police announce DWI crackdown

This July 4th Holiday Season, the Garden City Police Department, along with various other Police Departments throughout Nassau County will be participating in the “DWI Crackdown” Enforcement Initiative targeting Intoxicated and Drugged Drivers. This initiative is enhanced by funds provided by the Nassau County Traffic Safety STOP DWI Program, the New York State STOP DWI Coordinators Association and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee. Police Commissioner Kenneth Jackson states that during this initiative, Police Officers will monitor the Village’s roadways, strictly enforcing all DWI laws. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the 4th of July Holiday is one of the deadliest holidays of the year due to drunk-driving related crashes, accounting for 39% of all traffic crash fatalities from 2009 through 2013. The Garden City Police Department wishes everyone a safe and happy holiday.
