In order to make instructional materials accessible for students, Ms. Ruth Fuller, Special Education Assistive Technology Specialist for Garden City Public Schools, created a short video to demonstrate how to customize the reading settings for Learning Ally users. Learning Ally (LearningAlly.org) is a not-for-profit organization that supports students and parents of students with a reading and learning disability. The organization saw the benefit of Ms. Fuller’s video and shared it with all of its members across the country this summer. Learning Ally, formerly known as Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic, is an accessible online library that provides audio books for qualifying members. “Learning Ally is a valuable service that allows students to access their books on mobile devices anytime and anywhere,” explained Ms. Fuller. “It’s a great example of how learning can be universally designed so that everyone can access what they need.”
