GCCC Women’s Golf president Mary Ann Crawford opening the 2013 golf season with a ceremony honoring Jeanne Rohrbach
The women golfers of the Garden City Country club have started the 2013 golf season with the traditional opening scramble. This year was made special by an opening ceremony to honor long time golfing member Jeanne Rohrbach. Jeanne has been a golfer at the Garden City Country Club for many years. She was president of the Garden City Country Club Women’s Golf League from 1994 to 1995. She remains an active part of the Women’s League by still being the Nassau Women’s Golf Association club representative. She is an active golfer and an important part of the Garden City Country Club Women’s Golf program.

The scramble opened with a lovely ceremony honoring Jeanne with a wonderful speech by the current Women’s Golf president and Jeanne Rohrbach hitting the first drive with an antique wooden driver. The opening was wonderful but the weather did not cooperate.
It was a cold and rainy day, so the tournament only lasted through 9 holes. The luncheon in the main dining room made up for the dreary weather, being both beautifully presented and delicious. Friendly conversations and great food in the beautiful dining room of the Garden City Country Club made it a wonderful afternoon despite the inclement weather and another golf season is underway.
