Summer Gazebo Concert Series

Garden City’s Department of Recreation and Parks is please to announce its Ga-zebo Concert series on the Village Green (corner of Stewart and Hilton Aves.) Here is our schedule:

July 9 – Tommy Sullivan

July 16 – Buddy Merriam and Backroads

July 23 – Piece of the Rock

July 30 – North Shore Pops

August 6 – The Clusters

August 13 – 1910 Fruit Gum Company

All concerts are held on Thursdays be-ginning at 7:15 pm.Bring Chairs or Blankets. Our concerts are held rain or shine. In the event of less than per-fect weather, the concert will be held at the Cultural and Performing Arts Center in St. Paul’s Cluett Hall, 295 Stewart Ave.

St. Paul’s Senior Center Hours

St. Paul’s Senior Center is open and again running programs for seniors to enjoy! The Center is open from 9 am to 4 pm, Mondays through Fridays, for senior individuals to either partici-pate in the programs offered or to just sit, relax and enjoy the setting. Our weekly schedule is as follows:

Regitstration for upcoming trips

The Recreation and Parks Department, with the advisement of the Senior Advisory Committee, is sponsoring the following trips for seniors who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City during the upcoming months. Please remember to register early because all trips are first come, first served. No registrations will be taken before they are announced in the paper and payment must accompany any registra-tion.

Wednesday, September 16 – 9/11 Museum and the San Gennaro Festival in Little Italy – Due to popular demand we are again offering this wonderful trip! We will travel by coach bus to the 9/11 Museum, where we will tour this museum on our own. We will then depart for Little Italy and enjoy the San Gennaro Festival. Lunch is on your own and there is walking involved in this trip. The cost of this trip will be $50, checks only made payable to Rendezvous Travel. Space is limited so please register early.

Wednesday, September 30 – North Fork Wine Tasting Tour –

We will travel by coach bus to the Claudio’s in Greenport, where we will enjoy a delicious lunch. We will then tour some of the vineyards of the North Fork and enjoy wine tasting. We will also stop at Brieremere Farm, known for their produce and bake goods. The price of the trip will be $75, checks only made payable to Rendezvous Travel, due at this time. Space is limited, only 7 spots left!

Tuesday, October 13 – Hudson River Cruise and Lunch overlooking the Hudson – We will travel by coach bus to New-burg and visit the Blu Pointe Restau-rant, where we will enjoy a delicious lunch. We will then board the “River Rose” where we will enjoy the fall fo-liage as we glide down the Hudson dur-ing this two hour narrated tour. The price of the trip will be $79, checks only made payable to Rendezvous Travel, due at this time. PLEASE NOTE – THIS TRIP IS NOW FILLED.

Wednesday, October 28 – “Shenendoah” and Lunch at Westbury Manor -We will leave St. Paul’s Senior Center at 11:15 am and travel by recreation bus to Westbury Manor where we will enjoy lunch and the musical “Shenandoah”. We will return home after the show has ended, usually around 4 pm. The cost of this trip will be $30, checks payable to “Plaza Theatrical Productions”.

Friday, November 6 – See the “Vatican Splendars” Exhibit and the Franklin In-stitute in Philadelphia – We will travel by coach bus to the Franklin In-stitute in Philadelphia, where we will see a once in a lifetime exhibit of the largest collection of Vatican Treasures to ever tour North America. We will then get back on the bus and take a “spiritual tour” of Philadelphia. Lunch is on your own for this trip. The cost of this trip will be $70, checks only made payable to Rendezvous Travel. Space is limited so please register early.

Monday, November 30 – Tony Orlando’s Great American Christmas Show at Sand Casino – One of America’s most beloved performers takes center stage as Tony Orlando gives us a glittering tribute to the holiday season as well as fan favorites such as “Knock Three Times” and ” Tie a Yellow Ribbon”. We will travel by coach bus to the Bethlehem (PA)Sands Casino where you will receive $30 in slot play. Lunch is on your own. The cost of this trip is $60, checks only made payable to Rendezvous Travel and tickets must be purchase early as seating is limited for the show. Don’t miss out on this great show!

Wednesday, December 9 – Dyker Lights Tour – Everyone has heard of the Christmas display in Dyker Heights, Brooklyn and now you will get a chance to see them yourself ! We will travel by coach bus and have dinner at the Colandrea New corner Restaurant (Italian menu). Then we will have a guided holiday light tour of the Dyker Heights area. After our tour, we will go into Manhattan and visit the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree before we head for home. The price of the trip will be $75, with a $50 deposit, checks only made payable to Rendezvous Travel, due at this time. PLEASE NOTE – THIS TRIP IS NOW FILLED.

To register for any of these trips, please visit the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Ave. Please note, once the fees are sent to the venues, they are not refundable so make your selec-tions carefully. All trips are open senior residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City only.
