Consuming Kids RESCHEDULED

Due to the weather, the Consuming Kids program hosted by the Garden City Association of Girl Scouts has been rescheduled 2/9 at 7pm in the GC Library Lower Level Meeting Room.

Kids are multi-tasking with media in a way their parents never did: surfing the web, watching TV, listening to their iPods, and streaming media over their smartphones.  Kids are bombarded with over 3,000 commercial messages every day urging, coaxing and cajoling them to Buy More • Have More • Eat More • Want More.

Girl Scouts of Garden City are hosting a special screening of the movie Consuming Kids:  The Commercialization of Childhood.  The film highlights the effects of media & consumerism on our children.  It will be shown on February 9th at 7pm in the Garden City Library, Lower Level Meeting Room.  This program is available to leaders, parents, and the community at large, and consists of a 67 minute video, followed by a community roundtable discussion.  The program is appropriate for adults and high school students.  Please RSVP to Kerry Couture at kcoutur1@optonline.net. Registration is encouraged due to seating limitations.
