College Notes


Adamantios Hadjipateras of Garden City, has been named to the dean’s list in the University of Notre Dame’s First Year of Studies for outstanding scholarship during the Spring 2022 semester.

Students who achieve dean’s honors at Notre Dame represent the top 30 percent of students in their college.


Bucknell University has released the dean’s list for outstanding academic achievement during the spring semester of the 2021-22 academic year. A student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a scale of 4.0 to receive dean’s list recognition.

The College of Charleston recently awarded undergraduate and graduate degrees during Spring 2022 Commencement ceremonies.

Graduates included two Garden City students:

Hailey Shafran graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing .

Alexandra Hildreth graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication .


Melissa Whitney of Garden City graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in nursing from James Madison University during commencement exercises in May 2022.


Bucknell University celebrated nearly 900 graduates from the Class of 2022, whose degrees were conferred in June, on Sunday, May 22.

Garden City residents included: Nora Bennett,  Emma Cashwell,  Caroline Madigan,  Julia McNally and  Kalie Yuen


Congratulations to Nicole Ferraro, of Garden City, for earning a spot on the Dean’s List for the Spring 2022 semester at The College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York. Ferraro is majoring in Communications at Saint Rose.

Full-time undergraduate students, who complete a minimum of 12 graded credit hours and who achieve a semester average of 3.5 without a D, F, or Incomplete are eligible for the Dean’s List.


Hofstra University is proud to announce the Spring 2022 Provost’s List, which recognizes students who earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

Gianna Ingersoll of Garden City was recently named to the President’s List at The State University of New York at Potsdam. Ingersoll’s major is Music Education.

To achieve the honor of being on the President’s List, each student must have satisfactorily completed 12 numerically-graded semester hours, with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.


Siena College named two Garden City student to the Dean’s List for the Spring 2022 semester:

To be named to the Dean’s List, a student’s grade point average for the semester must be between 3.5 and 3.89.


Chris Jordan Jr. of Garden City was one of the more than 500 members of St. Lawrence University’s Class of 2022 who earned degrees following the University’s Commencement ceremonies.

Jordan Jr. graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics. Jordan attended Garden City High School.


The University of Rhode Island is pleased to announce the Spring 2022 Dean’s List. The following Garden City residents were so honored:

To be included on the Dean’s List, full-time students must have completed 12 or more credits for letter grades which are GPA applicable during a semester and achieved at least a 3.30 quality point average. Part-time students qualify with the accumulation of 12 or more credits for letter grades which are GPA applicable earning at least a 3.30 quality point average.


The following Garden City students have been named to the University of Delaware Dean’s List for the Spring 2022 semester:

To meet eligibility requirements for the Dean’s List, a student must be enrolled full-time and earn a GPA of 3.5 or above (on a 4.0 scale) for the semester.


Kelly McDonald, a member of the class of 2023 majoring in Mechanical Engineering (BS) at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), was a member of a student team that recently completed an intense research project titled Implementing Robots to Support Nursing Home Staff.

To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must pass four or more letter-graded courses with no failing grades during the semester and earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher.


Coastal Carolina University recognized more than 1,200 students during its spring commencement ceremonies, held May 6-7, 2022. Among the graduates was Kara McGovern, a Communication major from Garden City.

Kara was also named to the Dean’s List for the Spring 2022 semester.


Georgia Cosola of Garden City earned placement on the Gonzaga University President’s List for spring semester 2022. Students must earn a 3.85 to 4.0 grade-point average to be listed.


Garden City residents were among than 1,700 students named to The University of Scranton’s Dean’s List for the 2022 spring semester. The Dean’s List recognizes students for academic excellence. A student must have a grade point average of 3.5 or better with a minimum number of credit hours during the semester to make the Dean’s List. 

The students are:

Grace E. Ascher, a freshman nursing major in the University’s Panuska College of Professional Studies.

Mary G. Haggerty, a sophomore occupational therapy major in the University’s Panuska College of Professional Studies.

Jessica F. Yoo, a sophomore occupational therapy major in the University’s Panuska College of Professional Studies.

During Commencement ceremonies in May 2022, Lehigh University conferred 1,092 Bachelor’s degrees, 394 Master’s degrees and 33 Doctoral degrees. The following Garden City residents received degrees:

To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 with no grade lower than C. Full-time students must complete at least 14 credits in a semester, with at least 12 credits that have been graded on a letter grade basis to be eligible.
