A simple solution

To the Editor

A simple and inexpensive solution to the Clinton/Steward Avenue intersection without building any new roads or tearing down trees — is as follows:

At the north corner of Osborne Road and Clinton Ave, install a traffic light with red, yellow, green lights only.

At Clinton and Stewart, install a traffic light with red yellow green and arrow lights.

Have this traffic light delayed.

While the light at Osborne Rd. turns red, keep the Stewart light green, including the green arrow. The delayed timing would allow traffic to turn east on Stewart or continue south on Clinton. With the delayed signal the intersection would remain clear of traffic.

18-wheelers could swing east on Stewart Ave. to complete their turns without blocking the intersection.

Having the traffic light at the north corner of Osborne would also leave the intersection clear for 18 wheeler to swing north onto Clinton Ave.

As a lifelong resident of the Mott section, let the residents have the final say in this matter.
