6th Grade GCAA Boys Basketball Team Chaos Starts Season Strong

The 6th grade boys GCAA Basketball team Chaos started the season strong with a 5- 2 record in the highly competitive A Division of the Island Garden Super League. Our all Garden City team has held its own against multi-town AAU caliber talent relying upon a combination of intense defense and fast break basketball. Thru December, the GCAA squad has beat Lightning Bush 51-44, Great Neck Adidas 45-32, Team Shamrock 41-39, Jericho Kaible 40-36, Lightning Bush 35-29 while losing to Rising Stars Buchbinder and the Brooklyn Ball Hogs.

A critical component to the team’s success is the rebounding of Sean Rode and Tyler Soutar as well as the pinpoint passing of Chris Jordan and Nolan Pappas. The 6th grade team also benefits from the tenacious defense of Matthew Granville, Michael Handal and Luke Connolly while also taking advantage of the inside offensive force of Andrew De- Santis and Ian Gallagher. Brendan McGuire and Liam Muldoon provide offensive firepower from beyond the 3 point arc when needed. The 6th grade GCAA Chaos squad, coached by Tom Granville, is now coming up with a plan to deal with the two 6 foot centers on both Rising Stars Buchbinder and the Brooklyn Ball Hogs. Box out drills and growing will be a primary focus for these 6th grade youngsters in 2012 as they prepare for an additional 11 travel games. Happy New Year to all our GCAA players, parents and volunteers! Thank you for your continued support of GCAA Basketball.
