School board focuses on science research program

The Garden City School District’s science research program has experienced “mammoth changes” over the past several years, and continues to expand every year. “We have seen this program grow,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Robert Feirsen said at the Oct. 8th Garden City Board of Education work session. “Every year we have seen it evolve, not only in numbers, but more […]

$1.5 million Senior Center bond approved

An expanded and renovated senior center on Golf Club Lane is one step closer to becoming a reality after the Garden City Board of Trustees approved a bond resolution, not to exceed $1.5 million, to provide the necessary funding for the project. A large group of senior citizens filled the Village Hall boardroom at the Oct. 3rd Board meeting to […]

Amazing generosity

To the Editor: On April 27th, 2013, Petra Dehler suffered a massive stroke and her family rushed to her side. This is nothing extraordinary since that is what family does. What we could not imagine is that the Garden City community jumped in just as quickly. Within hours, food deliveries, flowers, cards, and driving schedules for her children were organized. […]

Petra’s Promise: a Garden City story

To the Editor: When we moved to Garden City 40 years ago, we were taken in by all the amazing things the Village had to offer: great schools, sports(for young and old), good local government, we even had our sidewalks shoveled when it snowed! More importantly, good friends were easily found. Over the years we have seen our children and […]

A first step

Their affirmation did the right thing in responding to a two year […]

It seems to me that we are once again leaning towards another vote on St. Paul’s future? To refresh every ones memory, the elections resulted in a slight […]

A win for seniors

We were happy to hear that the bond issue for the Senior Center at Golf Club Lane was approved by the Board of Trustees. According to Trustee Robert Bolebruch seniors make up 22 percent of the Village’s population, so we think it’s fitting that more attention is being paid to providing them with attractive facilities. While it’s true that the […]
