Senior Anthony Riggi’s two-out single in the bottom of the sixth drove in senior TJ McEvoy to break a 5-5 tie and lead the Trojans to victory. Juniors Mark DiPierro and Mike Handal both went 2-for-3 and junior Kevin McNiff added two RBIs for Garden City. Senior Andrew Nagel pitched a complete game,
allowing only two earned runs while giving up no walks and striking out five and gave up one walk and one earned run.

With these two victories, first year head coach Dave Izzo and assistant Ray Chaputian will take the team into the quarterfinals and will play again at GCHS on Friday, May 19, against the winner of the Mepham/Lynbrook series. With one more win, GCHS will advance to the semi-finals, where the top four remaining Conference A teams will play next week. The entire community is encouraged to come out and root for the Trojans on Friday at Frank Kiernan field at 4:30pm.
