Darwin and Love-What Did He have To Say?

The 8th annual Darwin Day: A Celebration of Science is scheduled for Sunday, February 7, from 11 am until 2 pm. This annual event, held at the Ethical Humanist Society of Long Island in Garden City, begins with a talk by John Teehan, chair of the Religion Department of Hofstra University, entitled "The Empathetic Ape: How Evolution Shaped the Human Capacity to Love."

Lunch of sandwiches and beverages will be offered for sale followed by science activities for children and presentations from the various sponsoring organizations, which includes the Ethical Humanist Society of Long Island, the Long Island American Humanist Association, LI Atheists, Center for Inquiry/Long Island and the Secular Student Alliance.

The event is free and open to all with an interest. The Ethical Humanist Society is located at 38 Old Country Road in Garden City (at the western end of Old Country Road, next to the large blue water tower). For information call 516-741-7304 and leave a message for Sharon Stanley
