Summer Zumba!

The following Summer Zumba exercise classes for adults will be offered by the Department of Recreation and Parks:

Tuesdays at 9:15 am(begins June 18); 9 weeks for $81

Thursdays at 7:45 pm(begins June 20); 8 weeks for $72

Tuesday morning classes will be held at Community Park's Tennis Center.

Thursday night classes are held in St. Paul's Senior Center

All classes are lead by Felicia Lovaglio, Director of our Dance Conservatory and adjunct professor at Adelphi. Each class is 45 minutes long.. To register for either of these classes, visit the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Ave.

Zumba Gold now registering

Classes will be held on Thursday evenings at 6:45 pm or Tuesday mornings at 10:15 am. Each 45 minute class, teaching the basics of Zumba, is led by Felicia Lovaglio, our certified Zumba instructor. This class is geared for seniors or the beginner adult. Classes will begin the week of June 18th.

Prices are as follows:

Tuesdays at 10:15 am - Seniors (65 or older)- $40Others - $72

Thursdays at 6:45 pm - Seniors - $ 45 - Others - $81

Tuesday morning classes will be held at Community Park's Tennis Center.

Thursday night classes are held in St. Paul's Senior Center.

n Summer yoga now registering with

Our winter session of Yoga Connie McKnight will begin again according to the following schedule:

Mondays ,7:30 - 8:30 p.m. - 10 classes for $65.00 beginning June 3rd

Wednesdays 10:15 - 11:15 a.m. - 9 classes for $ 58.50 beginning June 5th

This program is open to adults who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. The Wednesday morning class will meet in the Golf Club Lane Senior Center. The Monday evening class will meet in St. Paul's Senior Center. The class is geared towards the average person. Please make sure to bring a yoga mat and wear comfortable clothes. n Weekly yoga class for children Department

The Recreation will offer a seven week yoga class for children ages 6 - 10 on Wednesdays at 9 am in Golf Club Lane's Senior Center. This one hour class will provide basic instruction in a fun and supportive environment. Classes will begin on Tuesday, June 25. The cost of this session will be $56. To register, please visit the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Ave.

n Hockey rink open to GC residents and

The Recreation Parks
Department's new Roller Hockey Rink
is now open for general public use by
Garden City residents during the following days and times:
Tuesdays - 3:30 pm to dark
Wednesdays - 3:30 pm to dark
Thursdays - 3:30 pm to dark
Saturdays - noon to 6 pm
Sundays - Family Skate - 3 to 6 pm
Please note that Sundays is for family skate time only, no hockey will be
allowed during this session.
Proof of residency will be needed.
Please sign in with the attendant on
duty.

n2013 evening adult tennis lessons City

The Garden Recreation
Department will conduct evening tennis
lessons for adults who are residents of
the Inc. Village of Garden City at the
Community Park Tennis Facility. The
lessons will run for one hour each week
in three sessions during the
spring/summer months. The registrant
has a choice of a Monday, Tuesday,
Wednesday, or Thursday class and a
choice of time. There will be a maximum of four players per court. The
dates and fees will be as follows:
Session 1 - 6 weeks beginning
May 13; Cost - $165
Session 2 - 4 weeks beginning
July 8; Cost - $110
Session 3 - 4 weeks beginning
August 5; Cost - $110

Want to play some softball?

If you are a resident of the Inc. Village of Garden City, age 18 or over, who would like to play softball in one of the Recreation Department's softball leagues. Call the Recreation Office at 465-4075 to put your name on our "player list". We sometimes have coaches who call looking for extra players to round out their rosters. Call and leave your name, age, address, and phone number and we will keep your name on file for the team who is looking for extra players.

Registration for summer camps begins

Registration has begun for the Recreation Dept's summer camps. Below you will find a list of summer camps the Dept. of Recreation and Parks is offering this year. Registration is by mail only until May 18 on a first come, first served basis. Please pay careful attention to the age/grade requirements as they are strictly enforced.

Our summer brochures may be found in the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Ave., St. Paul's, Community Park or may be downloaded from our website at www.gardencityrecreation.org.

To register: by mail only, no walk in registrations will be accepted until May 18. We can not be held responsible for delays in the mail. To register, pick up a summer brochure at our Recreation Office, St. Paul's, Community Park, or download it from our website at www.gardencityrecreation.org. You can also make your own by listing your child's name, address, phone number, birth date, grade he/she will be entering in September and the session and classes for which you are registering with a first and second choice. Mail all information with full payment to the Garden City Recreation Department at 108 Rockaway Avenue. Make sure you are making the check out to the correct entity as listed on the application. Please make selections carefully as fees are not returnable.
