The Bride, daughter of Anita and John Kelly of Jackson Heights, married her beau, son of Jewel and James Joseph Mohen of Astoria.

“We had a wonderful honeymoon in Jamaica - Jamaica, Queens”, recalls the happy groom. The couple soon settled into Garden City, New York. In the ten years following their wedding, they had their first ten children, ultimately having 12. Their children and grandchildren have attended St. Anne’s, St. Joseph, St. Paul’s, Adelphi, Homestead, Locust, Stewart, Garden City Middle School, and Garden City High School, and been involved in countless activities in our community. While Virgina and Joe have since retired to the Philadelphia suburbs, many of their children, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and first, second, and third cousins, continue to live in Garden City and Stewart Manor in numbers too big to count. Family and friends celebrate today.

When asked her secret for having been together for 57th years, Virgina commented, “I think it is because we are still good friends, and that is the most important thing. Faith is also very important, and we still make time for romance.”

When Joe Mohen was asked his secret for being happily married so long, he first replied “Gin”. When pressed for more, he said “I remember meeting a pretty girl on a bicycle when she was 12, and that was love at first sight”.
