Garden City Girl Scouts Have an Adventure-Filled Weekend
Katharine Jushchenko on the "Flying Squirrel" Forty-six enthusiastic Girl Scouts from various troops in Garden City and some tagalongs rallied to escape the continuing after-effects of Hurricane Sandy and the Nor'Easter for a fun-filled weekend of bravery and fun organized by Brownie Troop 1567.
The happy campers attended the Adventure Sports Weekend at Frost Valley YMCA in Claryville, NY, over the Veteran's Day Weekend.
During their two days at Frost Valley, the girls and their mothers braved the low ropes course, zip line and "flying squirrel". They hiked to the waterfalls and rode horses along the river. After a full day of archery, canoeing on Lake Cole and rock climbing, they relaxed in front of a campfire and told stories about their adventures while making s'- mores.
Through all these team building activities, friendships were strengthened and new friends were made. Fun was had by all.
