On Sunday, October 21st, the United Cerebral Palsy Auxiliaries joined together in a fund- raising shopping event at Lord & Taylor in Garden City.
The evening began in Sarabeth’s Cafe, where refreshments were generously provided by Lord & Taylor. Many people purchased raffle tickets for many wonderful prizes as they listened to a brief synopsis of the evening’s events.
This was followed by a fashion show featuring fall and holiday outfits. Our own “hand-picked” models strutted the catwalk, while each outfit was described by Lord & Taylor’s personnel shopper Dana Amoroso. The models did a great job and seemed to enjoy being on display! The audience raved and cheered as each model took a turn walking around the room.
By 7 p.m., everyone was on their way to do their own shopping. Each $5 ticket included two 25 percent off coupons, and one 15 percent off coupon which could be used that evening and at Lord & Taylor’s Shop Good, Do Good Charity Event. It seemed to me that most people shopped the night away, only stopping to hear the winners of the raffle prizes at 8:30 p.m.
The best part is that 100 percent of our ticket sales were donated to United Cerebral Palsy in Nassau County, which does so much to serve those in need of their services at the center. Thank you to everyone who helped to make this evening spectacular!
The biggest asset to our auxiliary is our members, as well as our hard-working board. If you, your family or friends would like to become part of this club to ensure a better life for those with so many different disabilities, we invite you to join us.
