Drop-In-Crafts Day

Drop in any time from 1:30PM-3:00PM on Thursday, December 27 for Drop-In-Crafts Day! You can make a craft for yourself or make a special craft for the holidays or for the New Year. This program is for ages 21/2 through Grade 5. No registration is required, so stop on by and join us in making some wonderful crafts.

Celebrate Hanukkah

Hanukkah begins this year on Saturday, December 8, so celebrate the holiday by checking out some books on the holiday. Picture books about Hanukkah include The Golem’s Latkes by Eric A. Kimmel, The Hanukkah Hop by Erica Silverman, Chanukah Lights Everywhere by Michael J. Rosen, Hanukkah Haiku by Harriet Ziefert, and Hoppy Hanukkah! by Linda Glaser. For nonfiction books about Hanukkah, check out the books Celebrate Hanukkah by Deborah Helligman, Hanukkah Crafts by Karen E. Bledsoe, Hanukkah, Oh, Hanukkah: A Treasury of Stories, Songs, and Games to Share compiled by Wendy Wax, and Maccabee! The Story of Hanukkah by Tilda Balsley, among others.

December is Read a New Book Month

December is Read a New Book Month! Celebrate by reading some of the Library’s new books. New picture book and easy reader titles include Let’s Go for a Drive by Mo Willems, Bear Says Thanks by Karma Wilson, Good Night, Little Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister, Goldilocks and the Wolf by Hilary Robinson, and Snowmen at Work by Caralyn Buehner. New chapter books include Winter According to Humphrey by Betty G. Birney, Just Grace and the Star on Stage by Charise Mericle Harper, Mr. Terupt Falls Again by Rob Buyea, and Calvin Coconut: Rocket Ride by Graham Salisbury, plus many more.

Please check the Library website www.gardencitypl.org for upcoming events and registration dates. Funding for these programs has been provided by the Friends of the Garden City Public Library. Priority for registration and participation is given to children who are Garden City Public Library cardholders.
