Community Club Presents Vocalist
The Community Club of Garden City and Hempstead has a special treat for its members and guests on Thursday December 13, at 1:30 p.m. at the Garden City Casino. Three talented musicians will entertain with a musical performance of classic standards and holiday fare.
Ms. Jean McCormick is a graduate of Hofstra University and has toured the world. In the US, she has toured with different musicals taking her all the way from Alaska to Florida. Jean has also appeared at Tokyo, Disney, the National Theater of Taiwan, and has spent many years singing on cruise ships while traveling through the Mediterranean and Europe. She recently returned from performing with the original cast of “Hairspray” on Royal Caribbean’s “Oasis of the Seas - the largest cruise ship in the world. Jean will perform a mix of classical standards and traditional holiday songs.
Joining Jean will be Nicolas Davila, who has appeared with Intar Theater, Playwrights Horizons, Musical Tonight, Manhattan Theatre Source and The New York Philarmonic’s “Candide” starring Kristin Chenoweth and Pattie Lupone which aired on PBS, Nick has performed in “West Side Story,” “Elvita,” “The Fantastics” “The King and I” as well as “Phantom of the Opera” and “Les Miserables.” A California native, Mr. Davila is a member of AEA and a graduate of the Juliard School.
Accompaning Jean and Nicolas will be Ted Kociolek, a noted composer, librettist, musical director, vocal coach, educator and pianist. Ted has been affilicated with several Broadway shows and worked extensively in regional theater as conductor, keyboardist, and /or arranger. As vocal coach, he has served on the faculties of NYU and at the York Theatre. He maintains a private practice at his home in New York City. His current work in Progress, “The Age of Innocence” based on the novel by Edith Wharton.
Another added attraction is member Alice Cammiso will entertain us with her Poetry and essays. Alice has been writing for most of her life. Her essays and poems contain her reflections on the life she has livid, the revelations and misses as well as the possibilities both found and missed. Her spirituallyinspired pieces address people, place, and events in their realm as well as the mysteries and surrealism of her dreams. Alice is pleased to have completed her fifth book of selected poetry.
