2012 GARDEN CITY POOL APPLICATIONS ARE NOW AVAILABLE!

Get a head start on the summer! 2012 Garden City Pool Applications have been sent to all residents! Check out the ‘Splash,’ see all the great events planned, and join us for another summer of ‘Fun in the Sun’ at the GC Pool. LUNCHEON THEATRE AT WESTBURY MANOR

Our Recreation Department will be taking a trip to see “The Producers” at Westbury Manor on Wednesday, June 27. “The Producers”, winner of 12 Tony Awards, is an hilarious musical with the actors singing and dancing their way through the biggest show biz scam there ever was! We will travel by recreation bus at 11 a.m. leaving from St. Paul’s Senior Center and return to the senior center after the show. Lunch will be served as part of this experience. The cost of this trip will be:

$25 for senior residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City

$43.50 for guests of a resident

Reservations are a must and full payment must accompany your reservation. All Check should be made payable to Plaza Theatrical Productions. Space is limited so reservations must be received by March 30. Please visit the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Ave. in order to reserve a place on this trip.

ADDITIONAL ZUMBA GOLD CLASS OFFERED

Due to the high demand of this wonderful program, an additional Zumba Gold class per week is now going to be offered on Thursdays at 10:15 a.m. This 45 minute class will introduce you to the fun new exercise craze to great music! The class is open to any resident over 55, will run for 12 weeks at a cost of $48. To register for this program, please visit the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Ave.

NEW TRIPS OFFERED THROUGH GARDEN CITY RECREATION

Our Recreation Office is offering several trips this spring in conjunction with Prime Time Travel. Here is a description of each trip:

Transit Museum and the Museum of the Moving Image, June 20 - Travel back in time with Prime Time Travel as you visit the Transit Museum, with displays of how you traveled in the “early years”. After a morning visit to this museum, you will have lunch at Junior’s and then go on to the Museum of the Moving Image, a wonderful museum located in the old Astoria Studios, which as been expanded and renovated to display many items about film and television.

We have 25 seats for this trip. The cost of this trip will be $85. To register for this trip, please visit the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Ave. by March 5. A deposit of $30 must accompany your registration. Checks only, please make your check payable to Prime Time Travel.

NYC Police, NYC Fire Museums and the World Trade Center Memorial Gardens, July 10 - We will travel with Prime Time to visit these memorable places and also stop at South Street Seaport, where you will have lunch on your own.

We have 25 seats for this trip. The cost of this trip will be $64. To register for this trip, please visit the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Ave. by March 19. A deposit of $30 must accompany your registration. Checks only, please make your check payable to Prime Time Travel.

Thimble Island Cruise, July 25 - Enjoy something a little different as we relax aboard the Volsunga IV and enjoy a narrative tour through the Thimble Islands off the coast of Connecticut. These islands were once the haunt of Pirate captain William Kidd.

We will travel by Prime Time bus to meet the boat. We will also enjoy lunch at the Chowder Pot, with a choice of Stuffed Shrimp, Baked Stuffed Chicken Breast, or Prime Rib.

We have 25 seats for this trip. The cost of this trip will be $94. To register for this trip, please visit the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Ave. by April 5. A deposit of $30 must accompany your registration. Checks only, please make your check payable to Prime Time Travel.

Ellis Island and Dinner in Little Italy, August 23 - This Prime Time trip gives you the chance to visit Liberty and Ellis Island, with the many exhibits about the times when Ellis Island was used as a stopping point for our country’s many immigrants. After touring, we will enjoy a great dinner in Little Italy.

We have 25 seats for this trip. The cost of this trip will be $95. To register for this trip, please visit the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Ave. by April 30. A deposit of $30 must accompany your registration. Checks only, please make your check payable to Prime Time Travel.

ST. PAUL’S SENIOR CENTER HOURS

St. Paul's Senior Center is open and again running programs for Seniors to enjoy! The Center is open from 9 am to 4 pm, Mondays through Fridays, for senior individuals to either participate in the programs offered or to just sit, relax and enjoy the setting.
