K.C. Alvey Graduates Cornell University


Kathleen (K.C.) Alvey Kathleen (K.C.) Alvey Kathleen (K.C.) Alvey graduated Cum Laude from Cornell University during commencement in December 2011. She received her Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources with a Minor in Law and Society.

Junior year, KC was inducted with fourteen other students into the famed Quill and Dagger Senior Honor Society ( www.quillanddagger.com). Alvey was also appointed to Cornell president Skorton's President's Sustainablility Campus Committee, the only undergraduate representative to hold the position, where she helped analyze sustainability in all campus operations.

Awards include the Cornell University Partners in Sustainability Award and the S.O.A.R. Outstanding Activist Club Award.

With her interest in the environment, KC was elected President of the Sustainability Hub, an organization that oversees all 25 environmental organizations at Cornell. She is cofounder of Take Back the Tap.

Alvey will remain in Ithaca, working for Tompkins County Climate Protection Initiative. She continues to be a volunteer leader for the Green Umbrella, which is promoting PowerShift New York.

KC is the daughter of Robert and Suzie Alvey. She is a graduate of Garden City High School, Class of 2008 where she achieved one of the Highest Ranking Seniors Awards.
