World of Myths & Legends

Julie Pasqual, storyteller and actress, will be at the Library during the February school vacation on Tuesday, February 21 from 2 - 3PM to entertain and inform 'tweens and teens with various folktales from around the world. These tales are longer in length and detail than the ones for children. Registration started Tuesday, February 7 on Eventkeeper and is limited to 50 YAs. New Rules of College Admissions

Michael Binder of Your College Navigator will conduct a workshop for students in grades 9 -11 and their parents giving advice on the college search process on Wednesday, February 8 from 7PM - 9PM. Learn how to tell what the college is looking for; how to stand out as an applicant; how to decide which college is right for you; what is the best time to make college visits; how to write the "winning" essay, and more. Registration started January 25th on Eventkeeper. Babysitting Workshop

The very popular two-part Babysitting Workshop returns to the Library this February. The Safety Session conducted by Assistant Superintendent of Recreation Ed Fronckwicz and Detective Richard Pedone will be held on Thursday, February 9 from 6PM - 7:30PM. This session will focus on safety issues at the pool, the parks, and in the home. The First Aid Session conducted by JoAnn Tanck, RN and Georgette Basso, RN will be held on Monday, February 13 from 6PM - 8PM. Participants are asked to bring a doll so they may practice the proper ways to hold a baby while feeding or diapering. Certificates of Completion will be awarded to those attending both sessions. Registration started Thursday, January 19 on Eventkeeper and is limited to 30 YAs.

More information on programs and services for Young Adults in grades 6 - 12 is available on Eventkeeper at the Library's website www.gardencitylibrary.org. All teens n' tweens must have their own Library card to register for programs. Priority for programs is given to Garden City Public Library cardholders. Non-residents will be accommodated on a space-available basis. Funding for YA programs is provided by The Friends of the Garden City Public Library.
