To the Editor:

We want to thank the directors of the Eastern Property Owners' Association and the many residents of the East who worked tirelessly to ensure that Tuesday's primary election for Village Trustee in the East proceeded without a hitch. It is a huge undertaking to put this together in just two weeks and could not happen without the assistance of so many residents, all of them volunteers.

It is the role of the Village POAs, in accordance with the Community Agreement, to provide a fair and orderly election process for the residents to participate in primary elections of candidates for Village-wide office. The EPOA takes this responsibility very seriously. Our rules and procedures are patterned after those used in general elections by the Board of Elections. The primary election itself, open to all resident electors of the East, is financed by the dues of EPOA members.

Again, thank you to all who volunteered their time and efforts during this election and to all residents who came out to vote.
