Carolyn Dorothea Noble
Carolyn Dorothea Noble, a 57 year resident of Garden City, died at her home after a long illness on January 27, 2012. She was 87 years old. Carolyn is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Dr. William J. Noble, by her son, Dr. James Noble, her daughters, Miss Amanda Noble and Mrs. Amy Cooke, and seven grandchildren.
Carolyn grew up in Forest Hills, New York, and graduated from Queens College with a B.A. degree. She also attended Cornell University for graduate studies in English literature.
Carolyn was a long-time member of the Garden City Community Church where she co-founded a luncheon program for the home-bound elderly, taught Sunday School, and pursed her passionate concern for the Church's outreach programs. She was particularly proud of working with the Interfaith Nutrition Network.
She volunteered teaching in an adult literacy program for many years, and was a member of the League of Women Voters.
She was an active member of the PTA of the Garden City Schools, and enjoyed her role as a Girl Scout leader.
She was a caring person who will be sorely missed by all who were touched by her life .
A memorial service for Carolyn will be held at the Garden City Community Church on Saturday February 25, 2012 at 2:00 PM.
