Author To Hold Reading At Library

Author Tom Phelan will discuss Ireland's industrial schools and read from his new novel "Nailer" on Wednesday, February 15, at 7:30 p.m. at the Garden City Library, 7th Street, Garden City.

His talk will be sponsored by the Irish Cultural Society

Tom Phelan will read selections from his latest novel NAILER; talk about a trip to Connemara, where the discovery of a children's cemetery on the grounds of a former industrial school inspired him to write NAILER; and describe the research that brought him to visit former industrial schools and reformatories. And he will discuss the Irish industrial schools and the churchstate collusion that allowed them to flourish. Books Ireland calls NAILER "a hard-hitting thriller"; the Leinster Express says it's "a compelling story"; and Hedgemaster editor John Walsh notes that it is "awesomely well-written."

This event is free.
