Receiver of Taxes To Address Residents
AAUW is delighted to announce that Donald X. Clavin, Jr, will speak on “Learning About Taxpayer’s Rights” on Friday, February 3, 2012 at the Garden City Library at 1:30 p.m. All in the community are most welcome to attend. There will be time for questions at the conclusion of the talk.
Mr. Clavin has been the Town of Hempstead Receiver of taxes since February 2001. Reelected in 2003, he was again reelected in 2007 by his highest margin ever.
Mr. Clavin earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in history from Canisus College in Buffalo and a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Hofstra University School of Law. He was a trial attorney practicing in all New York courts as well as in the United States Federal District Courts.
Mr. Calvin gained extensive experience in local government while working in the Office of the Nassau County attorney as Deputy County Attorney. In that office, Mr. Clavin was responsible for defending various agencies of government ranging from the Department of General Services to the Nassau County Police Department. After leaving the County attorney’s Office, Mr. Clavin entered the private sector and went on to defend various corporations ranging from Home Depot to General Motors.
