Primary Election In The East

In accordance with Art. III of the EPOA By- Laws governing the procedure for designation of nominees for candidates for Village Trustee, and in accordance with the Unified Procedure of the Community Agreement, a primary election will be held on Tuesday, January 31st , 2012, at the Stewart School, from 4:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Voters must be in line to vote no later than 9:00 p.m., at which time the line will be closed. Voters need not be dues paying members of the EPOA.

The sole purpose of the primary election is to designate a candidate from the East for Village Trustee, for a term of 2 years. The name of the winner of this primary election will be placed on the ballot for the March, 2012 Village General Election.

The following two names officially have been placed in nomination for this primary election:

Nicholas Episcopia - 38 Claydon Road, Garden City, NY

(Proposed by the 10-Member Nominating Committee)

Jon Segerdahl - 137 Locust Street, Garden City, NY

(Proposed by Petition of Resident Electors of the East, filed at the January 17, 2012 Resident Electors’ Meeting, in accordance with Art. III, Sec.3)

Only Resident Electors of the East may vote in this election. The Eastern Section of the Inc. Village of Garden City is the entire area east of the center line of Franklin Avenue. “Resident Elector” shall mean any resident of the Eastern Section of Garden City, who is then eligible to register to vote in any applicable School or Village Election.

Proper and sufficient I.D. will be required of all voters. Only proper photo I.D. with signature and address, (e.g. valid NYS driver’s license, DMV I.D. card, or U.S. Passport) will be accepted. Such things as utility and phone bills, Social Security and Medicare cards, Library cards, Student I.D. cards, etc. that do not contain photos, addresses, or signatures do not constitute sufficient and proper I.D. Anyone who has recently reached the age of 18 should be prepared to present valid proof of age as well as a photo I.D. Anyone who does not present sufficient and proper photo I.D., as outlined above, will be permitted to vote only upon presentation of sufficient and proper alternate proof of residency and personal I.D.

A Notice of Election was also mailed by the Eastern Property Owners’ Association to the Resident Electors of the East.
