Community Club Presentation On Pioneer Aviators

On January 4, 2012 the Community Club of Garden City and Hempstead was privileged to have Natalie Naylor speak on Long Island’s daring Women Aviators. Professor Naylor taught at Hofstra University and was director of it’s Long Island Studies Institute until retirement on 2000. Dr. Naylor edited several publications on Long Island. She spoke of the first women aviator who flew on Long Island 100 years ago and how other women were soon taking flying lessons on the Hempstead Plains. This program is made possible through the support of the New York council for the Humanities, a state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. This Historical presentation was followed by light refreshments.
