The Eglevsky Ballet of Long Island Presents The Nutcracker


Garden City students pose for a photo between rehearsals Garden City students pose for a photo between rehearsals For more than 50 years, Eglevsky Ballet offers thanks to the Long Island Community for its support as one of the oldest, continuously running ballet companies in the country. This year, the Eglevsky Ballet brings excitement to Long Island in the form of the production of the nutcracker choreographed by distinguished choreographer Laszlo Berdo. Performances take place at the Tilles Center at C.W. Post Campus in Brookville on December 17th at 12:00 pm and 5:00 pm and December 18th at 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm. The Nutcracker by The Eglevsky Ballet is an annual treat for the families of Long Island, danced to the traditional lush score by Tchaikovsky, while bringing Clara’s magical holiday journey to life.

Returning guest artists, Lia Cirio and James Whiteside, principal dancers of The Boston Ballet Company will be joining the professional company of 24 dancers. They will dance the roles of the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Cavalier. The company is joined by a cast of 61 Long Island’s most talented young dance students selected through competitive auditions. Many of these students participated in the Eglevsky Ballet Summer Intensive Workshop at Hofstra University this past summer. Garden city residents Emily Aprigliano, Jillian Aprigliano, Frances Brown, Julia Conroy, Mia Curtin, Antonella D’Amelio, Nicole D’Amelio, Christina Giannone, Holly Kopke, Grace ann Limoncelli, Kate McKay, Susannah McKay, Christina Papachristos, Liliana Papachristos, Melina Papachristos, Madeline Roberti, Elena Severini, Lindsay Welsh, Seunghyun Woo, Seungmin Woo will perform in various roles in the production.

This year’s Nutcracker promises to be one of the most exciting cultural events of the season.

The box office is open Monday-Saturday 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm. All tickets are subject to a $2.00 facilities fee.
