Chamber Foundation Assists “Unite For Sight”
The Garden City Chamber of Commerce Foundation was pleased recently, to have assisted “Unite for Sight” volunteer organization with a donation toward the organization’s good works. Garden City resident, and ophthalmologist, Dr. Kathleen VanValkenburg, had traveled to Ghanna this past summer as a participant in the “Unite for Sight” volunteer organization. While in Ghanna, Dr. VamValkenburg taught the latest techniques in surgery and volunteered in the clinic seeing patients. As part of her volunteer effort, Dr. VanValkenburg brought along supplies and hundreds of donated eyeglasses. Also pictured are Eric Gadaleta, a pre-med student who had also volunteered on the trip (left) and Brooke VanValkenburg. The mission of the Garden City Chamber of Commerce Foundation is to assist community members in need, and to provide annual scholarships for deserving Garden City High School seniors.
