The Library In Your Pocket!
Visit the Garden City Library on Your Mobile Device
Garden City residents can now visit the Garden City Public Library via a smartphone or other mobile device. If you access the Library website at www.gardencitypl.org on a Droid or iPhone, you will automatically be served a simplified version of the Library’s webpages, more suitable for viewing on a tiny screen.
The Library catalog (ALIScat) also has a mobile version called AirPAC. You can access AirPAC by following the link on the Library’s website or entering the address http://m.alisweb.org//. Using the mobile site, you can do a simple catalog search or check your library account.
While you’re logged into your library account, consider signing up for SMS Alerts. SMS Alerts will send simple text messages to your cell phone to inform you that you have items due soon, overdue, or on hold. To sign up for SMS Alerts, log into your library account at www.alisweb.org/ patroninfo.html, click on “Modify Personal Info,” and enter a mobile phone number.
Many of the Library’s electronic resources have apps for mobile devices. With OverDrive Media Console for Android, BlackBerry, iPhone/iPad, or Windows Phone 7, you can take along a shelf full of books from the Nassau Digital Doorway in your pocket. The BYKI Online language learning system also has mobile apps for Apple and Android devices. Wherever you are, your Library is there for you.
