Arbor Day Fest Is Saturday, April 30th

Volunteers helping to beautify trails in March Volunteers helping to beautify trails in March The Board of Directors of the Garden City Bird Sanctuary/Alvey Arboretum announce the annual Arbor Day Fest scheduled for Saturday, April 30th from 1pm- 3pm.

The community nature center invites visitors to bring annuals (plants) for restoration of the site ecology, if they would like to.

The Board will announce the winner of the 2011 Garden City Middle School 6th grade Environmental Essay Contest who will win a $100 US Savings Bond. There is an Honorable Mention this year too. The Board is also pleased to present the 2011 Garden City Bird Sanctuary Environmental Stewardship Award.

Guided tours of the site will be conducted and copies of the “Alvey Arboretum Activity Book”, prepared by a Girl Scout Troop 1104 will be distributed.
