Resurrection Invites Community For Back-To-School Blessing

Going back to school signals the end of summer vacation as well as new beginnings for children across the country and in our own community. With the opportunities for learning and developing new skills, as well as forming new friendships comes a certain amount of apprehension for children, their parents, and teachers.

Aware of the importance of a healthy, positive educational experience, The Lutheran Church of the Resurrection invites children of all ages and teachers to a “Back-to-School Blessing,” during its regular worship services the weekend of Sept. 12.

Acknowledging Resurrection’s continuing commitment to offer spiritual support to students and their corresponding schools, Pastor Jeff Browning describes the event. “Children will be invited to come forward to receive a special blessing and a gift as they prepare to go back to school. Teachers are also encouraged to come forward, as we remember all schools, teachers, staff, and students in our congregational prayers.”

Resurrection Lutheran Church is a multi-site Christian community of faith, with our main campus located at 420 Stewart Ave., near Clinton Rd., in Garden City. All are invited to worship at 5:30 p.m. on Saturdays and at 8:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday mornings, with Christian Education at 9:45 a.m. Our second campus, THE LIFE Church, is located at 1 Old Westbury Rd., on Jericho Tpke., in Old Westbury. All are welcome Thursdays at THE LIFE, beginning with Free Family Style Dinner at 6 p.m., followed by Worship and Holy Communion at 7 p.m. For more information, call 516.746.4426, or visit www.resgc.org.
