Garden City Police Commissioner Ernest J. Cipullo has announced that during the upcoming Labor Day Weekend the Garden City Police Department will be participating in the statewide Stop DWI initiative “New York STOP-DWI Crackdown - Over the Limit. Under Arrest”. Commissioner Cipullo states “The police department will be implementing additional DWI Patrols during this initiative in an effort to make our roads safer for motorists and pedestrians.” The goal of the department’s DWI Enforcement Program is to inform motorists of all vehicles including motorcycles and commercial vehicles of the consequences of driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. These consequences include but are not limited to: death, serious injuries and property damage as well as jail time for the offender. Commissioner Cipullo adds “If you are caught drinking and driving, you will be arrested and your car will be impounded”. The Police Department wishes everyone a happy and safe holiday weekend.
