Garden City SEPTA Honors Marcia Kelly

Marcia Kelly, 2008-2010 Director of the High School Parent Teacher Association and former Vice-President of Special Education Parent Teacher Association (SEPTA), was presented the Nancy Maher Maxwell Award by SEPTA Executive Board at the June, 2010 meeting of the Garden City Public Schools Board of Education. The award was created several years ago in memory of the former head of Pupil Personnel Services, Ms. Nancy Maher Maxwell, and is bestowed in her honor to an individual who goes beyond his or her job responsibilities to help the special education students in our district.
SEPTA President Mary Lou Keating (right) presented the award to Ms. Kelly along with Anne Kinn, SEPTA Advisor. “It is a privilege and honor to accept this award for the many parents who volunteer hours and hours of their busy lives to help create a fair and challenging educational experience for all of our children,” commented Ms. Kelly. “Thank you SEPTA!”
