Learning How To Live Long And Live Strong
Chairman of the Department of Medicine at Winthrop Dr. Michael Niederman, Nancy Langdon and Senator Kemp Hannon at the “Live Long-Live Strong” health seminar
Residents from across Nassau County turned out for Senator Kemp Hannon’s “Live Long-Live Strong!” health seminar held at the Winthrop Wellness Pavilion in Garden City. The seminar featured presentations from doctors and nurses of Winthrop University Hospital with a focus on the latest health treatments and resources available to Long Islanders.
The Clinical Director of The Center for the Advanced Care of Chronic Conditions, Nancy Langdon, conveyed the importance of health support programs and diagnosing chronic conditions earlier on. “Learning that you have a chronic condition is often traumatic, and it can set off several emotions,” said Langdon. “Nobody wants to be diagnosed with a chronic condition, unfortunately however, most of us will experience two or more of these conditions during our lives,” Langdon continued. The Center for the Advanced Care of Chronic Conditions is revolutionizing the diagnosis process and treatment process.
During the seminar, community members also learned about the serious effects of sleep apnea and other seemingly mild conditions. Residents enjoyed a tour of the impressive new facility as well. “It was an honor to have Winthrop join me in providing this information for our community,” said Senator Hannon. “People need to know, and deserve to know, all of the health information that is currently circulating,” Hannon continued.
