Kylie McNeill and her parents shared their pet frogs with the class. They shared how they take care of the frogs. They researched information about Kylie’s frogs. It was very interesting. Students in Miss McCavera’s second grade class look forward to visits from parents throughout the school year. Every Wednesday morning a parent reads a book to the class. Sometimes a grandparent or older sibling will read as well. Students are always learning about careers in our community. Parents visit to talk about their jobs. If appropriate, some children are able to bring their pet to school. The student shares how they care for their pet and some interesting facts about the animal. The class is always respectful and quiet when visitors are in the classroom. They were lucky to have so many interesting visitors this year and thank them for their time and enthusiasm.

James Crowley was so happy when his mother brought his dog to school for a visit. James talked about his pet. He shared his responsibilities in caring for his dog.

Owen Heaney’s father talked about his job helping to keep the environment clean and healthy. He did wonderful science experiments with the class.
Bridget O’Connor’s parents both came to read a story to the class. Every Wednesday is Special Storytime Day in the class. It is a treat to have a parent read to the class. On this day, it was a double treat with two wonderful stories told by two wonderful readers.
Amanda Hohenberger’s mother visited the class. She talked about her job at 1010 WINS radio station. She helped the students make a commericial.
Jordan Pearn introduced her brother to the class. He is a Garden City fireman. He talked to the class about fire safety. He demonstrated some of the fire equipment he uses in his work.
