For our third week Guessing Game, we have three winners! Congratulations to second grader Kurt Dengler and kindergarteners Samuel Vasington and Timothy McCarthy. There were 68 mini-bean bags and growing sea life in the jar and Samuel guessed 69 while Timothy and Kurt guessed 67, making their guesses the closest this week! Each week there is a new guessing game. Residents up through Grade 5 are encouraged to guess the number of items in the jar. The child with the closest guess wins! Congratulations again to Kurt Dengler, Samuel Vasington, and Timothy McCarthy and thanks to all who participated in the game!

Raffle Winners!

Members of the Summer Reading Club can fill out and submit mini-review cards. Each week, a staff member will pull 20 cards from a box containing review cards from children entering Grades K-2 and 20 cards from a box containing review cards from children entering Grades 3-5. For the second week, the winners in Grade K-2 won a stuffed toy raccoon while the winners in Grades 3-5 received a colorful mesh beach bag.

Strummin’ and Drummin with Matt

All children registered for the Little Swimmer Summer Read-to-Me Club who meet the requirements of the club are invited to attend the End of the Summer Show, Strummin’ and Drummin’ with Matt. The show will be held on Tuesday, August 3 at 11:00AM. Children ages 2 1/2-5 who are interested in attending the show can register for the Little Swimmers Read-to-Me Club in the Children’s Room.

The Make-a-Splash Reading Show

Children registered for the Deep Sea Divers Summer Reading Club who meet the requirements of the club are invited to attend the Make-a-Splash Reading Show with David Rosenberg. The show will be held Wednesday, August 4 at 7:00PM. Children entering Grades K-5 in September who are interested in attending the show can register for the Deep Sea Divers Club in the Children’s Room.

Summer Reading Club

Registration for the Summer Reading continues in the Children’s Room. Registration for the Little Swimmers Read-to-Me Club for children ages 2 1/2-5 (not entering Kindergarten in September 2010) ends Monday, August 2 at 9:00PM while registration for the Deep Sea Divers Reading Club for children entering Grades K-5 in September ends Tuesday, August 3 at 9:00PM. Summer Storytimes

The Final Summer Storytimes are on Monday August 2. No registration is necessary, but space is limited, so please arrive promptly. You can check out our flyers in the Children’s Room for additional details.

Priority for registration and participation is given to children who are Garden City Public Library cardholders.
