Garden City Retired Men’s Club Calendar Of Events

The Garden City Retired Men’s Club is a non-profit membership organization formed in April 1961 for the purpose of providing educational and recreational activities for the retired male senior citizens of the Garden City Community. The organization is non-sectarian and non-political.

All retired men 55 years or older residing in the Incorporated Village of Garden City, in the state of New York are eligible for membership upon paying a five (5) dollar initiation fee. If you are eligible and interested in joining us, please come by. Every Monday is Open House. Or call Joe Leto at 248-9022.

The Club House facility is located at No. 6 Golf Club Lane (directly behind Lord & Taylor parking lot). The building is open every day of the week, except Friday, and offers two regulation size pool tables, television, cards/table board games as well as outdoor bocce, horseshoes and shuffleboard. Our Program Committee is planning a very active speaker program. You are invited to join us!

Rudy Kaiser and Gary Metzler will be cooking up their usual delicious luncheon for us. Hero sandwiches, a dish of cold cuts plus salads and a hot side dish. It will all be there. As usual, the cost if a mere $9.00 ($7.00 plus $2.00 for lucky bucks.)

He’s booked another speaker from the office of Andrew Cuomo to deliver some sage advice on a very timely subject, “Identity Theft.” Identity theft is one of the fastest growing consumer scams in America. In today’s world, senior citizens are prey to unscrupulous entities. We are prime targets for all sorts of foul schemes. This is a subject for all people, particularly seniors. Monday, August 9th is the date. 1:00 PM is the time. LADIES ARE INVITED TO ATTEND.

On Thursday, August 26th, we will be celebrating the 80th birthday for all of our members and male non-member Garden City residents, who reach the age of 80 any day in 2010. Join us to blow out the candles and sing an ‘off key’ happy birthday.
